CURATORS SHOWS & PLAYLIST PROTOCOLS
BIG E RADIO SHOW SPECS:
Please export/save/submit your show files in this format:

MP3 - 192k - 44.1 khz - set to 'constant bitrate'

Please check your export/save settings to make sure this is correct. Once you set it, it should stay that way for
further exports. This is basic CD quality, and the format we broadcast in.

Please do not send in 256k or 320k MP3 files. They double the file sizes, and we’re not broadcasting at that rate,
so its not worth it. (also make sure it’s not 96k or 128k or some weird shit like 161k).
If you need help with this, please message me with what software you’re using for recording, and I can help you
with the steps to export your shows in the proper format we require.

TAGS:
Please follow these rules for labeling your files: (example)

Title: Party Hog Radio Show #1
Artist: Mike Braniff
Album: S1 Ep 01 (yes, this is season one of Big E)

DO NOT TAG GENRES OR ANYTHING ELSE PLEASE!

BIG E RADIO PLAYLISTS:

Starts with your SHOW NAME/SHOW NUMBER at the top of your list.
Please include SONG TITLE | ARTIST

Since most of the songs used in your shows are YouTube rips, asking to find specific albums will be a long arduous
task for all of us. We’re confirming with Socan if listing albums is a necessary step in their process.
Please submit your playlist in Word Doc, or a PDF file (preferred).
Please include your playlist when you upload your shows.

BONUS STEP:

This is not a mandatory requirement, BUT it will take your playlists to the next level and the artists will get MUCH
more if you take this step, than they will with just Socan hits.
I ask you all to please try this out ONCE, and you’ll see why it’s likely the best tool we can use to help these artists
sell some music online. It’s very easy to use. Andrew White discovered this online service that’s FREE and an
amazing asset for music sales.

Go to https://songwhip.com

No sign up is necessary. Click the + sign in the top right corner. Then click on ‘search or paste link’.
A search bar will appear at the top of the page.
Literally type ANY artist or song name in there (spelling counts). Songwhip will generate a links page allowing you
to buy/rent that song from Apple, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, every sales format its available on.
Highlight the link for this Songwhip page in the address bar, copy it, and paste the link into your show playlists
after SONG TITLE | ARTIST.

This is what we’d LOVE to see from all of you (and the artists would appreciate this as well as it will boost sales
for them), and will set us apart from others in supporting artists, in true ‘community radio’ spirit.

PLAYLIST EXAMPLE:

PARTY HOG RADIO SHOW #44

THE RAIN | WILFRED N & the GROWN MEN | https://songwhip.com/wilfrednandthegrownmen/the-rain
THE CLICHE SONG | JR. GONE WILD | https://songwhip.com/jrgonewild/the-cliche-song
Note: Be precise when searching for the song/artist. Don’t cheat on words like ‘the’ or ‘and’ in titles, you’ll find
the song you’re looking for faster. If you can’t find the song you want on Songwhip, please just include a YouTube
link instead to the song (better than nothing, as more obscure music may not be listed on Songwhip).
WHY YOU ASK?

Because your playlists are NOT just for Socan. They’re for YOUR audience.
You play a song by Captain Tractor on your show. Someone likes it, and wonders what song that was. They go to
your show page and there’s the playlist from your show.
They look it up, click the Songwhip link, and BAM! They can now listen/purchase/rent the song from 10+ music
services, all on ONE page. This is a HUGE bonus to your audience AND the artists.
I cannot express enough how cool this feature is, as I don’t see ANY other radio stations offering this feature in
connecting indie artists with their audience.
I strongly recommend you TRY this once, it will take you an extra 5-10 minutes to create your playlists.
You’re already helping out ‘Artist X’ by playing their song on your show. Help them sell their music product as
well. And help your audience find cool new music that encourages them to go down the rabbit hole further for
that artist. WIN-WIN-WIN.
If you have any concerns or questions, please email me at mike@mikebraniff.com and I will be glad to help you
out with anything here.
THANK YOU!
