Mixtapes were always my way of connecting with people. Friends, and family all fell victim to these mixes. It was also a way to be bossy in a nicer sounding way. The advent of the CD meant I could potentially have a captive audience for up to 80 minutes straight, no flipping sides. Now, both formats have faded from widespread accessibility to niche trivialities, according to the public at large. Cue Stranger Mixtape.
The creation of what might have been my final CD mix coincided with the generous invitation to join this admirable internet radio venture. I repurposed the name of my second show of drawings (a collection of portraits of friends and acquaintances connected to QR codes that the viewer could scan to listen to the subjects’ favourite song), and set forth on this new challenge: to create my own radio show. Play what I want. Talk about what I want. A shot at the socialist/totalitarian show of my dreams. Who am I? A multimedia artist quietly creating music and drawings in my corner of the universe.
